Communities in La Quinta, Benahavís

A guide to the established residential communities, villa enclaves, apartments and townhouses that make up La Quinta — from El Herrojo and its elevated villa areas to golf-side developments around the clubhouse.

La Quinta is often spoken about as though it were a single residential development. In reality, it is a collection of individual communities and villa enclaves spread across the hills surrounding La Quinta Golf & Country Club.

The differences between them can be significant. Some are predominantly apartments designed around communal gardens and pools. Others consist mainly of townhouses, while the upper reaches of La Quinta include some of Benahavís’ most prestigious private villa addresses.

Elevation, orientation, proximity to the golf course and access routes also change considerably from one community to another. Two properties described simply as being “in La Quinta” can therefore offer very different lifestyles.

This guide focuses specifically on the established La Quinta area. Real de La Quinta is a separate neighbourhood and is not included here. Likewise, nearby areas such as Alborada and Monte Halcones are treated independently within The Benahavís Collection.

Understanding La Quinta

There is no single “best” part of La Quinta. Buyers looking for a villa, panoramic views and privacy may naturally gravitate towards El Herrojo and the higher parts of the area, while those wanting easier lock-up-and-leave ownership have a much wider choice of apartment and townhouse communities.

Some development names also contain several phases. For example, El Soto and El Mirador are commonly used as broader names, while individual properties may be identified more precisely as El Soto I, El Soto II, Mirador I or Mirador II.

Villa & luxury enclaves

The higher and lower villa sectors of La Quinta provide a very different experience from the apartment communities closer to the golf course. Plot size, elevation, security and views become increasingly important here.

El Herrojo

One of La Quinta’s best-known villa addresses, El Herrojo occupies elevated land above and around the golf course. The lower sections combine private villas, established landscaping and relatively easy access to the golf club and main roads.

El Herrojo Alto

The upper section of El Herrojo is characterised by gated access, larger private villas and some of La Quinta’s most elevated positions. Panoramic coastal, mountain and golf-valley views are an important part of its appeal.

The Hills

A newer collection of contemporary luxury villas within the El Herrojo Alto setting. The Hills occupies one of the highest parts of La Quinta and is associated with modern architecture, controlled access and expansive views.

La Reserva de La Quinta

A gated, low-density development of villa plots associated closely with the golf course. It suits buyers looking for private-villa living within the established La Quinta environment rather than an apartment-led community.

La Riviera I & II

Older villa and residential sectors associated with the established La Quinta Golf area. Properties here appear less frequently than in the larger apartment communities, so individual homes can vary substantially in age, architecture and renovation level.

Established apartments & townhouses

Many of the communities closest to La Quinta Golf were developed over several decades and have matured into established residential environments with gardens, pools and a mixture of permanent residents and second-home owners.

Arcos de La Quinta

An established gated apartment community positioned around the C course at La Quinta Golf. Homes include both frontline and slightly set-back positions, making orientation and exact location particularly important.

Eagles Village

An Andalusian-style community of apartments and townhouses overlooking the golf course. Its position close to the clubhouse makes it particularly relevant to buyers who want the golf facilities within easy reach.

El Soto I de La Quinta

A gated Andalusian-style apartment community with frontline golf positions and pedestrian access towards the central La Quinta facilities. It is one of the communities commonly grouped under the wider “Soto de La Quinta” name.

El Soto II de La Quinta

The second Soto phase is another gated apartment development with golf-side positions and good access to the resort facilities. As with Soto I, the development is frequently marketed simply as Soto de La Quinta.

El Mirador I

The more townhouse-led part of El Mirador de La Quinta, close to the golf course and established La Quinta facilities. Its layout gives it a more residential, house-like character than the neighbouring apartment phase.

El Mirador II

An established apartment community within the wider El Mirador setting, with communal gardens and pool facilities. Buyers should distinguish it from Mirador I when comparing property types and layouts.

La Quinta Hills

A gated hilltop complex combining apartments and townhouses. Its elevated position is one of its defining features, with many homes benefiting from broad views towards Marbella, Puerto Banús and the coast.

Lomas de La Quinta

A Mediterranean-style apartment development in an elevated setting. It has a more village-like architectural character than some of La Quinta’s later contemporary developments.

Las Terrazas de La Quinta

An established residential community known for generous terraces and a mix of apartment and townhouse-style homes. Exact outlook varies between golf, mountain and wider coastal orientations.

Los Balcones de La Quinta

A substantial apartment community within the established golf area, offering a range of property sizes and communal pool facilities. It is one of the longer-established residential names in La Quinta.

Las Encinas

One of La Quinta’s earlier residential communities, with duplex-style homes and golf-side positions. Its west-facing orientation can be particularly attractive to buyers prioritising afternoon and evening sun.

Las Jacarandas

A small community of townhouses overlooking La Quinta Golf. Its relatively intimate scale, communal garden and pool distinguish it from the larger apartment-led developments nearby.

Ucanca

A small, established community in a particularly convenient position close to the Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa and the golf clubhouse, both just a few minutes’ walk away. Homes overlook the finishing hole of one of La Quinta’s three nine-hole courses, combining a genuine golf-side setting with easy access to the resort facilities. Properties rarely come onto the market here, making Ucanca one of La Quinta’s less frequently available residential communities.

Elevated & later La Quinta communities

As La Quinta expanded into higher ground, later developments placed increasing emphasis on panoramic views, larger terraces, underground parking and more contemporary communal layouts.

Altos de La Quinta

An elevated Mediterranean-Andalusian style community above the golf course. Its position gives many homes broad sea, mountain and golf views while remaining within a short drive of the clubhouse.

Buenavista de La Quinta

One of the highest apartment settings within established La Quinta. The development is divided into separate private phases and is particularly associated with large terraces and panoramic south-facing views.

La Quinta Greens

A small gated apartment community with just a limited number of residences. Its boutique scale and emphasis on privacy make it quite different from La Quinta’s larger established developments.

La Quinta Suites

A gated apartment development close enough to the central La Quinta facilities for convenient access to the golf club, hotel, spa and restaurants. Underground parking and storage add to its lock-up-and-leave appeal.

Newer boutique developments

More recent projects have introduced contemporary architecture and smaller, more design-led communities into the established La Quinta Golf environment.

Le Caprice

A boutique development of apartments and penthouses beside the Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa. The small-scale community combines contemporary design with southwest-facing terraces, gardens and golf and coastal outlooks.

The Crest

A contemporary boutique development of apartments and penthouses within the La Quinta Golf Resort setting. Large terraces and an elevated position overlooking the Golf Valley are central to its character.

A note about names & boundaries

La Quinta has developed over several decades, so community names are not always used consistently by property portals and estate agents. Some older names remain familiar locally but appear less often in current marketing, while individual phases are sometimes grouped under one broader development name.

For example, Soto de La Quinta commonly refers to the El Soto phases, while El Mirador de La Quinta contains different property types across Mirador I and Mirador II. Likewise, Altos de La Quinta and Buenavista contain separate phases that are often marketed simply under the main community name.

This page intentionally excludes Real de La Quinta and neighbouring residential areas such as Alborada and Monte Halcones. They are distinct locations and are better understood through their own area guides rather than being grouped into La Quinta for convenience.

Choosing the right La Quinta community

The most useful way to compare La Quinta is not simply by property type or asking price. The exact micro-location can affect views, sun, privacy, walking access, road access and the general feeling of the property.

A villa in El Herrojo Alto offers a very different lifestyle from an apartment beside the clubhouse, while an elevated apartment in Buenavista may feel quite different again from a townhouse in Mirador I or Las Jacarandas.

If you are considering La Quinta, it is usually worth viewing homes across several communities before narrowing the search. Buyers often change their preferred development once they experience the access, elevation and atmosphere in person.
