The intensity of August begins to soften, yet the weather remains distinctly summery, restaurants still feel lively in the evenings and the outdoor season becomes considerably more comfortable. It is also a month of transition: schools return, the summer concert season reaches its finale and walking, golf and village life begin to regain more of the day.

This month brings an unusually varied mix of local and nearby events — from Benahavís Has Got Talent, Coto Restaurante’s End of Summer Party and a boutique performance of Carmen at Villa Padierna to Candlelight Marbella, the final Starlite concerts, La Vuelta and a packed September programme across Estepona and the wider coast.

🎉 September Highlights

September begins strongly in Benahavís itself. Benahavís Has Got Talent moves to Thursday 3 September, Coto Restaurante has live entertainment across most weekends and its End of Summer Party on Saturday 19 September, while Anantara Villa Padierna stages a special open-air performance of Carmen on Thursday 24 September. Nearby, Starlite reaches the final nights of its 2026 season, Candlelight moves into central Marbella and La Vuelta brings one of world cycling’s great races remarkably close to home.

🌊 UIM MotoSurf World Championship at Real de La Quinta — 11–13 September

One of the month’s most unusual late additions is taking place remarkably close to home. El Lago Club at Real de La Quinta is hosting Spain’s first round of the UIM MotoSurf World Championship, bringing around 70 international riders from approximately 20 countries to the area.

MotoSurf combines board racing with motorised power, and the weekend programme runs from free practice and qualifying on Friday through the semi-finals on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Men’s, women’s and junior categories are all represented.

The championship was only formally publicised locally in the days immediately before the event, which is why it did not appear in the original September guide. The organisers have also promoted public MotoSurf sessions at The Point Club on Playa del Pinillo in Marbella during the event period.

🏡 Benahavís Village Life in September

September is often one of the loveliest months in Benahavís. August’s fiesta atmosphere fades, families settle back into school and work routines and the village begins to feel more like itself again, while still retaining the warmth and sociability of summer.

Terraces remain central to village life. Dinner is still comfortably outdoors on most evenings, but it becomes easier to arrive a little earlier rather than waiting for the heat of the day to disappear. Mornings also become much more useful for walking, coffee, errands and local exploring.

🎤 Benahavís Has Got Talent — Thursday 3 September

Benahavís Has Got Talent finally takes place on Thursday 3 September after moving from its original August date. Hosted at The Irishman Benahavís on Calle Marbella, the evening combines local entertainment with fundraising for ACE animal charity.

Audience members are asked to arrive from 19:00, with the competition scheduled from around 19:30. Singers, comedians and other performers take to the stage before the judges and audience help decide the winner.

Tickets are currently listed at €20 for adults and €15 for children. The event also includes a raffle and the opportunity to eat at The Irishman during the evening.

🎭 Carmen Under the Stars at Villa Padierna — 24 September

One of September’s most distinctive local cultural events takes place at Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavís Marbella Resort on Thursday 24 September.

Carmen, a Boutique Opera is an abridged adaptation of Bizet’s famous opera staged in Villa Padierna’s Roman-style amphitheatre. Rather than presenting the complete opera, the 75-minute performance focuses on its best-known arias and duets.

The four principal characters — Carmen, Don José, Escamillo and Micaela — perform with piano accompaniment in an intimate amphitheatre seating approximately 330 people. It is exactly the sort of event that works well in September: cultural, open-air and elegant without requiring a journey into Málaga.

🎭 Benahavís Culture & Urban Art Weekend — 26–27 September

The final weekend of September now has a much stronger local programme than was available when this guide was first prepared. Benahavís’ municipal autumn–winter cultural season begins at the Salón de Actos, while Avenida de Andalucía becomes a public canvas again for the second edition of the town’s urban-art manhole painting competition.

The theatre performances form the opening weekend of Benahavís’ municipal autumn–winter cultural programme, which continues with further theatre, comedy, family shows and literary events later in the year.

🕯️ Candlelight near Benahavís

Candlelight remains part of the September programme, but the location changes this month. After a summer run at Villa Padierna, the currently confirmed September concert takes place in central Marbella at the open-air Auditorio José Pernía Calderón in Parque de la Constitución.

The unusually long Starlite season reaches into the first few days of September, giving residents and visitors one final weekend of major quarry concerts before the summer programme closes.
