What’s On in Benahavís — October 2026
Your local guide to October in and around Benahavís — village traditions, autumn culture, live music, dining, markets, golf, family life and some of the most worthwhile events nearby on the Costa del Sol.
October is when Benahavís settles properly into autumn without losing the outdoor lifestyle that makes this part of Andalucía so appealing. Days are usually still warm enough for terraces, golf and walking, yet mornings and evenings become noticeably fresher, the summer crowds have eased and the social calendar starts to feel more local again.
This month is particularly strong in Benahavís itself. The traditional Romería de la Virgen del Rosario celebrates its 40th anniversary on Wednesday 7 October, the municipal autumn cultural programme brings four events to the Salón de Actos from 22–25 October, Candlelight returns to Villa Padierna, and the Town Hall is preparing a dedicated Halloween celebration at the end of the month. Nearby, Fuengirola and San Pedro Alcántara both hold major ferias, while Marbella and Estepona add walking, sport, music, culture and family events.

🍂 October belongs to local tradition, culture and the return of comfortable outdoor days.
The 40th-anniversary Romería gives the month its strongest Benahavís identity, while a concentrated cultural weekend later in October brings literature, stand-up comedy, visual theatre and a family show to the village. Add two evenings of Candlelight concerts at Villa Padierna, weekend music at Coto Restaurante, local charity events and a Halloween celebration in preparation, and there is considerably more happening locally than October sometimes gets credit for.

🙏 40th Anniversary Romería de la Virgen del Rosario — Wednesday 7 October
The Romería de la Virgen del Rosario is one of the most distinctive dates in the Benahavís calendar, and 2026 marks a particularly special edition: the 40th anniversary of the tradition. Since 1986, residents and devotees have accompanied the patron saint each October towards the Ermita de Campanes, turning the day into a combination of pilgrimage, community gathering and countryside celebration.
The 2026 programme begins with chocolate and churros from 08:30 to 10:30. The official Romería leaves from the church at 11:00, accompanying the image of the Virgen del Rosario towards Campanes, where Mass takes place at 13:00.
- 08:30–10:30 — Chocolate and churros
- 11:00 — Romería departs from the church
- 13:00 — Holy Mass at the Ermita de Campanes
- 13:00–19:00 — Children’s inflatable attractions
- From 14:00 — Free paella and live music from Orquesta Kalima
Families and groups also gather around the Llano de la Ermita in private and municipal marquees, making the Romería a full-day community celebration rather than simply a religious procession. Visitors are welcome, although it remains first and foremost a genuinely local Benahavís tradition.
Why 2026 is special: This year marks 40 years since the Romería tradition began in 1986, making Wednesday 7 October one of the most significant local dates in this month’s calendar.
🏡 Benahavís Village Life in October
October is often when Benahavís begins to show its year-round character most clearly. Summer visitors have largely gone home, school and work routines are established again and village life becomes less about the season and more about the people who actually live here.
Terraces remain very usable, particularly around lunch and on warmer evenings, but the pattern of the day shifts. Walking before lunch becomes easier, golf moves away from the very earliest tee times, and long outdoor lunches start to make more sense than waiting until late evening for the temperature to fall.
The Romería gives the first part of the month a traditional focus, while theatre, literature and comedy take over towards the end. Halloween then adds a very different family-friendly finish to October, reflecting the unusually international mix of families living across the municipality.
October idea: Treat this as a countryside month. Walk or play golf in the morning, linger over lunch in the village and keep the evenings for the cultural calendar rather than trying to recreate the late-night pace of August.
🛍️ Local Markets in October
October is firmly back into the regular year-round market rhythm. The smaller summer evening markets have largely disappeared, but Benahavís, San Pedro and Puerto Banús still provide useful weekly options.
🧺 Sundays — Benahavís Rastro
The Sunday rastro at the chapel grounds remains Benahavís’ most distinctive regular market, mixing antiques, second-hand finds, clothing, produce, food and casual browsing in an informal international atmosphere.
🛒 Tuesdays — Village Produce Stall
The small fruit and vegetable stall remains a simple local option for fresh produce in the village and fits naturally into an ordinary Tuesday morning.
🛍️ Thursdays — San Pedro Market
San Pedro’s weekly street market remains one of the largest practical market choices close to Benahavís, normally running on Thursday mornings around the Recinto Ferial / Calle Jorge Guillén area.
🧺 Saturdays — Puerto Banús Market
The Saturday market near Puerto Banús continues through autumn, with clothing, accessories, homewares and market stalls in much more comfortable temperatures than peak summer.
Market note: Local markets can change around public holidays, weather and municipal events. Check locally before making a special journey.
⛳ Golf in October
October is one of the strongest golf months of the year around Benahavís. Summer heat is no longer the main constraint, courses become busier with travelling golfers and residents can play comfortably across a much wider part of the day.
Autumn golf season — prime conditions return
La Quinta, Los Arqueros, El Higueral, Marbella Club Golf Resort, Atalaya and El Paraíso all sit within the wider Benahavís golf landscape. October is high-demand golf season, so preferred tee times are worth booking further ahead than they were during the hottest weeks of summer.
⛳ Golf note: Cooler does not mean cool. Sunny October afternoons can still feel distinctly warm, while early starts may require an extra layer.
🍽️ Local Dining & Weekend Music at Coto Restaurante
October suits Benahavís dining particularly well. Outdoor tables remain attractive during the day, evenings are cooler without being wintry and restaurants feel more relaxed than they did in August.
For a fuller look at where to eat locally, explore our dining and restaurants in Benahavís guide →. Weekend reservations remain sensible, especially where live music is part of the service.
🎵 October Weekends at Coto Restaurante
We are proud to sponsor the music at Coto Restaurante. Its current standing autumn rhythm has BIBI Cello playing on Saturday evenings and Johnny Baker accompanying Sunday lunch.
- Saturdays 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 October — BIBI Cello — live strings from golden hour into the evening.
- Sundays 4, 11, 18 & 25 October — Johnny Baker & Sunday Roast — relaxed lunch beneath the cork oaks followed by live afternoon music.
Entertainment can change around private events, weather and artist availability, so confirm directly with Coto before making a special journey. Coto Restaurante can be contacted here →
🎸 Live Music at The Irishman Benahavís
The Irishman has also announced two live-music dates in October: Sunday 11 and Friday 16. On Sunday 11, Electric Skies perform from 14:30, pairing live music with the venue’s Sunday lunch service. The Friday 16 event has been announced as a live-music evening, with final performer details best checked directly with the venue.
- Sunday 11 October, from 14:30 — Electric Skies — live music during Sunday lunch.
- Friday 16 October — live music at The Irishman — performer and final timings should be confirmed directly with the venue.
🎶 Free Choral Concert — Saturday 17 October
Benahavís adds a free lunchtime classical-music event to the October calendar, with two choirs performing together at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Saturday 17 October — 12:30
The Ciudad de Marbella Polyphonic Choir and the Neeber-Schuler Choir from Frankfurt will perform a programme of classical works. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
The concert takes place at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Benahavís and offers a useful cultural option between the Romería earlier in the month and the four-day municipal autumn programme that begins on 22 October.
📚 Benahavís Autumn Culture — 22–25 October
The municipal autumn–winter cultural programme concentrates four very different events into the final full week of October, giving the village one of its strongest cultural runs of the year.
- Thursday 22 October, 19:00 — Tertulia Planeta with Blue Jeans — author Francisco de Paula Fernández visits Benahavís for a literary conversation presented by Esther Ráez. Free, with advance reservation required.
- Friday 23 October, 20:30 — Buenrollistas, Víctor Parrado — stand-up comedy built around optimism, everyday anxieties and direct interaction with the audience. Recommended for ages 16+.
- Saturday 24 October, 20:00 — GOOOL, Yllana — visual comedy and satire using football, fandom and the absurdities surrounding the sport as its starting point. Recommended for ages 16+.
- Sunday 25 October, 12:00 — Mr. Robinson & La Máquina de Cuentos — a family show from La Caja de las Expresiones combining storytelling, technology and familiar tales.
The performances take place through the municipal cultural programme at the Salón de Actos. Ticketed events use the municipal booking system, while the Blue Jeans literary evening is free but requires advance reservation.
🕯️ Candlelight at Villa Padierna in October
After September’s Marbella-centre concert, Candlelight returns to Anantara Villa Padierna in October. Four concerts are currently listed across two Sunday evenings in the intimate Salón Linares.
Sunday 11 October
- 19:00 — Tribute to Hans Zimmer
- 21:00 — Queen vs. ABBA
Sunday 25 October
- 19:00 — Coldplay vs. Ed Sheeran
- 21:00 — La Ley Innata
Current tickets are listed from €28, subject to availability. Check the latest programme and seating directly through Candlelight Marbella →
🎃 Halloween in Benahavís — Saturday 31 October
Halloween has become part of the autumn family calendar in Benahavís, reflecting the municipality’s international population as much as any long-standing Spanish tradition.
For 2026, the Town Hall has already published a dedicated procurement contract for the Halloween celebration, with a one-day event covering entertainment services, inflatables and fair-style leisure activities. That confirms a substantial municipal event is being prepared for the end of October.
At the time this guide was prepared, the final public programme, exact venue and timings had not yet been released. We will update this section as soon as the Ayuntamiento publishes the practical details.
Family note: Halloween information often appears relatively late. Check the Ayuntamiento’s Facebook and Instagram channels during the second half of October for the final programme.
🌄 Outdoor & Village Life in October
October is one of the easiest months of the year to spend outdoors around Benahavís. The strongest summer heat has passed, but daylight remains generous enough for long mornings outside and many afternoons still feel pleasantly warm.
- Walking — Longer routes become realistic again, although exposed sections can still feel warm in direct sun.
- River routes — Check conditions before entering the Guadalmina area, especially after autumn rainfall.
- Golf — October is prime season, with more comfortable conditions and greater demand for tee times.
- Cycling — Cooler mornings make the Ronda Road and inland routes more appealing, but visibility and traffic remain important considerations.
- Evenings — Outdoor dining remains common, although a light jacket starts becoming useful later in the month.
Outdoor idea: October is ideal for combining the landscape with the village. Walk in the morning, have a late lunch in Benahavís and use the coast for a sunset stroll rather than building the whole day around the beach.
🌊 Beaches and the Last of the Long Summer
October can still deliver excellent beach days on the Costa del Sol, particularly during settled spells. The sea has retained much of its summer warmth, daytime temperatures can remain comfortably above 20°C and the beaches feel dramatically quieter than they did in August.
However, October is less predictable. Rain becomes more likely, beach clubs begin closing for the season and evenings cool more quickly. It is better viewed as a bonus beach month than a guaranteed continuation of summer.
For a fuller guide, see our beaches and beach clubs near Benahavís guide →
🌤️ Benahavís Weather in October 2026
October is usually mild and highly usable rather than reliably summery. Warm sunny days remain common, particularly in the first half of the month, but autumn rainfall becomes a realistic possibility and evening temperatures gradually fall.
- Daytime: generally mild to warm, with sunny spells still capable of feeling distinctly summery
- Evenings: cooler, especially in the hills above the coast
- Rain: more likely than September, with occasional heavier autumn spells possible
- Sunshine: still plentiful between weather systems, making October one of the most comfortable months for outdoor activity
👉 What to pack: light daytime clothing, sunglasses and comfortable walking shoes, plus layers for the evening and a light waterproof layer if the forecast becomes unsettled.
📍 Nearby Events: Marbella, San Pedro, Estepona, Fuengirola & Málaga
The wider October calendar is particularly strong for traditional ferias, walking, sport, culture and family events. Rather than listing every exhibition and small performance along the coast, these are some of the most useful dates from a Benahavís base.
1–4 October — Marbella 4Days Walking
Marbella’s international walking event returns for four days of organised routes through the town, coast and surrounding landscape. It is one of the most distinctive participatory autumn events in Marbella.
1–4 October — San Diego Comic-Con Málaga
The international pop-culture convention returns to FYCMA in Málaga with panels, film and television guests, comics, gaming and more than 300 hours of scheduled content across the four days.
3 October — MARBEPOP 40th Anniversary
Marbella marks 40 years of MARBEPOP with a special anniversary edition, adding a music-festival option to the busy first weekend of October.
3–6 October — TodoDanza Marbella
Marbella’s contemporary dance festival begins its 2026 programme with performances exploring movement, memory and the body as a form of expression.
6–12 October — Feria del Rosario, Fuengirola
Fuengirola’s patron-saint feria is one of the region’s major October celebrations, combining traditional Andalusian fairground life, horses, casetas, music and family entertainment.
9–11 October — Estepona Vive sus Calles
Estepona’s autumn street festival fills different parts of the town with theatre, family attractions, flamenco, jazz and live music, including a headline performance by Seguridad Social.
9–25 October — City Jump Estepona
The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos hosts a giant inflatable attraction across selected dates, designed for children and adults. Tickets are currently listed from €10.50, making it a useful family option during the second half of the month.
10 October — OBK, Málaga
Spanish electronic-pop favourites OBK bring their 35th-anniversary Vértigo Tour to Teatro Cervantes in Málaga at 20:00.
11 October — Estepona Marathon
Estepona adds a major running event to the October sporting calendar, giving runners and spectators another worthwhile outdoor date during one of the most comfortable months of the year for endurance events on the Costa del Sol.
13–19 October — Feria de San Pedro Alcántara
The La Caridad fairground hosts a full week of casetas, rides, music, food and traditional celebrations. It is particularly convenient from La Quinta, Los Arqueros, Guadalmina and the eastern side of Benahavís.
17 October — Tribute to Mecano, Estepona
The Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI hosts a live tribute to one of Spain’s defining pop groups, adding an easy evening concert option west of Benahavís.
23 October — María Jiménez & Bambino Tribute, Estepona
Esperanza Soria and Fernando Soto bring a musical tribute to María Jiménez and Bambino to the Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI.

🇪🇸 Spain & Wider Highlights for October
October has a clearer national identity than September thanks to Spain’s National Day, while the end of daylight-saving time changes the rhythm of the evenings during the final week of the month.
- Wednesday 7 October — 40th Anniversary Romería de la Virgen del Rosario — Benahavís’ traditional patron-saint pilgrimage and one of the municipality’s most important annual local dates.
- Monday 12 October — Fiesta Nacional de España / Día de la Hispanidad — national public holiday across Spain.
- Sunday 25 October — clocks go back — Spain returns to standard time in the early hours, giving an extra hour overnight but noticeably earlier sunsets afterwards.
- Saturday 31 October — Halloween — increasingly visible across the Costa del Sol, particularly in family-focused municipal programmes, international communities, restaurants and entertainment venues.
October may lack the scale of August, but it arguably gives a better picture of everyday life on the western Costa del Sol. Benahavís has its own strong traditions and cultural programme, the surrounding towns are still busy enough to provide major events almost every weekend, and the cooler weather makes it considerably easier to enjoy the landscape rather than simply escape the heat.
