🎉 What’s On in Benahavís — April Highlights
April revolves around Easter at the beginning of the month, but there is more to the month than Semana Santa alone. In Benahavís, the village processions remain the emotional centrepiece, while the municipality’s wider spring programme also includes children’s holiday activities, cultural events and outdoor plans as the season settles into its most comfortable rhythm.
For families, the municipal Easter camp runs during the school holidays, and the Málaga C.F. / Benahavís Easter campus returns as a notable sporting option. For adults, the wider cultural rhythm continues with town-hall programming, spring social life in the village and the kind of evenings that naturally lead into long dinners and live music nearby.
- 30 March–1 April — Benahavís Easter Camp A family-focused school-holiday activity programme in the village for local children.
- 29 March–1 April — Málaga C.F. / Benahavís Easter Campus A football camp in Benahavís organised with municipal support.
- 11 April — Candlelight Concerts at The Westin La Quinta Atmospheric tribute performances including ABBA and Coldplay / Imagine Dragons.
- 18 April — Aventura Amazonia outing A Benahavís cultural programme day out as a spring outdoor activity.
As always, we recommend checking the Ayuntamiento’s official channels in the days before attending smaller local events, as village timings and supporting activities are sometimes refined close to the date.

✝️ Semana Santa 2026 — Benahavís, Estepona & Marbella
Holy Week is the defining event at the start of April this year, with the most important celebrations falling between Palm Sunday on 29 March and Easter Sunday on 5 April. If you want a more intimate village atmosphere, Benahavís is deeply appealing. If you prefer grander processions, larger brotherhoods and longer routes, Marbella and Estepona offer a more dramatic scale while still being easy day or evening trips from the municipality.
You can learn more about Semana Santa in our guide to the holy week which has been updated for 2026.

Semana Santa procession in Marbella Old Town — a defining moment of Easter on the Costa del Sol
Benahavís Processions
Benahavís keeps Holy Week personal and close to the community. The routes are shorter than in the larger coastal towns, but that is part of their charm: the processions move through familiar village streets, accompanied by music, devotion and a more intimate audience experience.

Alongside the processions themselves, Easter in Benahavís often has a family dimension too, with school-holiday activities and children’s programming around the same period. That makes it a lovely time for owners, residents and visiting families who want tradition without the scale and intensity of the larger city celebrations.
Estepona Processions & Easter Atmosphere
Estepona’s Holy Week is one of the most appealing alternatives for those staying in or around Benahavís. It combines a handsome historic centre, a walkable seafront and a fuller programme of processions with a refined but accessible atmosphere. The town also frames Semana Santa as both a cultural tradition and an important moment in the visitor calendar.
The mayor’s Easter greeting describes Holy Week as one of the town’s most eagerly awaited events, highlighting not only the processions but also Estepona’s pedestrian-friendly centre, promenade, Orchidarium, mural route, Mirador del Carmen and strong gastronomic offer — all of which make it particularly rewarding for a full day or evening visit.

In addition to the formal processions, Estepona also stages “La Pasión, según Estepona” on Saturday 4 April, beginning at 17:30h in Plaza San Francisco and finishing near the Orchidarium. It is a dramatic street re-enactment rather than a procession, and it adds another family-friendly Easter event for visitors who want something different from the evening brotherhood routes.
Marbella Processions & Grand Holy Week Viewing
Marbella offers one of the most visually rewarding Semana Santa experiences on this part of the coast. For anyone based in Benahavís who wants the most dramatic Semana Santa evening, Marbella is one of the strongest nearby options. It has the scale, the architecture and the theatre that many international visitors imagine when they think of Easter in Andalucía.
🐣 Family Easter Plans, Dining & Seasonal Extras
Not every Easter outing needs to be devotional. Across the wider coast, hotels and restaurants typically use Easter weekend for special brunches, spring menus, family lunches and children’s activities. In the Benahavís area, that often means combining a morning in the village or on the golf course with an afternoon lunch, or heading to Marbella or Estepona for a more event-led day.
For families wanting a child-friendly Easter atmosphere, there are also school-holiday camps and activity programmes locally, while luxury hotels in Marbella customarily add Easter Sunday dining and family programming. This is a good month to reserve early for brunches and seafront lunches, especially across Easter weekend itself.
🌄 Outdoor & Village Activities
April is one of the finest months to enjoy Benahavís outdoors. The hills are greener than they will be later in the season, the air is warm without the weight of summer heat, and the days are long enough to shape a proper morning or afternoon around the landscape.
It is an ideal month for river walks, scenic drives, coffee in the village, a relaxed tee time, or a longer lunch that turns into an afternoon on a terrace. For owners and visitors alike, April is when the municipality feels particularly easy to enjoy: active without being crowded, social without yet becoming intensely summer-driven.
- Hiking & Nature Trails — The Guadalmina route and surrounding countryside are especially attractive in mid-spring.
- Cycling & Mountain Biking — A lovely month for longer rides before the hotter season arrives.
- Golf — One of the year’s best periods for course conditions and comfortable play.
- Village Strolling — Benahavís itself is at its prettiest in April, particularly in the late afternoon and early evening.
🍽️ Local Culture & Gastronomy
April is a beautiful month for dining in Benahavís. Easter flavours appear on menus, terraces come back into their own, and the village’s restaurant scene feels more animated week by week. This is the time for long lunches, evening tapas and those relaxed shoulder-season dinners when the coast feels polished but not yet in full summer mode.

🇪🇸 Spain & Wider Highlights for April
April is not only about spring weather and Easter celebrations — it is also a month of practical dates in Spain, from Holy Week bank holidays to the start of tax-return season. For residents, second-home owners and anyone planning travel, these details can shape everything from appointment scheduling to restaurant availability and road traffic.
⭐ Key dates & notes:
- 2 April — Jueves Santo (Maundy Thursday) is an official public holiday in Andalucía, so many offices and some businesses will be closed or operating on reduced hours.
- 3 April — Viernes Santo (Good Friday) is also an official public holiday in Andalucía and across Spain, bringing one of the most important days of Holy Week processions.
- 5 April — Easter Sunday remains one of the busiest days of the Holy Week period for lunches, family gatherings and final processions, so advance restaurant booking is especially wise.
- 8 April — Spanish income tax campaign opens for 2025 returns, with online filing available from this date through 30 June 2026.
- Spring admin season begins — April is often when residents and property owners start organising tax paperwork, residency-related admin and pre-summer arrangements.
- Summer time is already in effect — Spain moved to CEST on 29 March 2026, so evenings are lighter and outdoor dining becomes even more appealing through April.
